Philosophy

What I beleive about birth is that first and foremost every woman is different.  Every birth is different, every pregnancy, baby, and situation is different.  Secondly, I believe in women.  I believe we were made to birth babies, we can do this, we are strong and capable.  I believe in natural childbirth, homebirth, spiritual birth.

That said, I try and mesh these two beliefs together as much as possible.  While I know that you can birth your baby naturally, I also realize that outside factors, and inside factors as well, effect the pregnancy, labor, and delivery in such a way that you may (or may not) want pain relief.  I beleive in that choice - it is about what is best for YOU and YOUR baby.

I do not beleive that women are formed from cookie-cutters.  We are diverse, different, and beautiful.  You may have had nine children naturally and at home, and this is your tenth, and you feel the need later in your pregnancy to go to the hospital - NOW.  In that case, I am behind you one hundred percent!

My job is to make your birth be the best birth that you can have.  I do not inforce my ideals on you, because we are not the same person, we can not possibly be expected to beleive the same things or operate the same way.
